I am 22 years old and was born and raised in El Salvador until age 13. I graduated high school in Washington, DC in 2019 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics in May 2023, just as we were finishing this book! Beginning this fall, I will be pursuing a Master of Arts in Bilingual-Bicultural Education. I enjoy playing softball, writing poetry, and hanging out with my baby sisters and friends. This is my first published book, but I have been writing poetry since high school about my experiences as an immigrant. I hope to continue exploring my identities through writing in the future. My favorite part about this writing process was collaborating with my co-authors and coming up with illustration ideas to bring the story to life. I wrote this book because I believe it is important for young readers from marginalized backgrounds to be able to see themselves represented in the books they are reading. I hope every immigrant child who reads this book sees themselves in these pages and feels less alone. I am dedicating this book to my younger sisters.
