Duy
Duy
Duy was 16-year-old when he wrote his comic for AAPI youth comics. His family immigrated from Vietnam. In his free time, he likes to write poetry and feed birds in Rock Creek Park.
“The Boy Who Swallows the Sea” is Duy’s first story. Reflecting his own life experiences, this story weaves through intricate metaphors that radiate his creativity. The most amusing part of writing the story for Duy was coming up with ideas then tying the story all together into a compelling foundation. He is determined to get his story across many with those who are still at the depth of the ocean.
“Lotus” and “The Day I twist grief into mountains for me to stand on”, are his second published pieces with Shout Mouse. Duy graduated from Jackson Reed High School and looks forward to creating even more poetry when he goes to college. Duy hopes that readers of this anthology resonate with his work and are able to celebrate their identity.
