Chioke Barkari joined Shout Mouse Press in August 2023 as Deputy Director. In her role, Chioke will help SMP become a more financially strong and sustainable organization through her work overseeing fundraising and operations. Chioke is a passionate social justice advocate and leader who brings over 12 years of nonprofit and fundraising experience. Prior to joining Shout Mouse Press, she held development positions at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, RESULTS, and the National Organization for Women. Additionally, Chioke has served on the nonprofit boards of the DC Abortion Fund and Collective Action for Safe Spaces. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies from Ohio Wesleyan University. Originally from Cleveland, Chioke has called the DMV home since 2015. In her free time, she enjoys travel, theater, and carrot cake.
